Mission Statement
Second Chance Transitional Living is committed to assisting children who have lost their parent(s) through death, have been abandoned, abused and/or neglected and to help them to become healthy, upright and productive citizens.
Philosophy
- Second Chance Transitional Living teaches children/adolescents that where they came from does not have to determine where they are going. We teach them life skills that will assist them in creating the life they want as they become young adults.
- Second Chance Transitional Living operates on the belief that each child should have the opportunity to live a meaningful life in a loving, caring environment.
Goals
Second Chance Transitional Living was established to meet the needs of children in difficult situations and to guide them during and through their transition either back to family or to age out.. SCTL therefore has established primary and annual goals soas to meet this purpose.
Primary goals
We will accomplish this by having a house mother in each home. Someone that will nurture the children so they are not perceived as a head on the bed. We will host family gatherings such as BBQ’s, Outings and vacations as a “normal family” would
SCTL will work with the agencies and corporate in all ways possible to ensure visits and phone calls are consistent between children and parents in order to assist with the reunification process.
We will work with the children to ensure they understand the importance of mutual respect. It is this level of respect that is required in order to have healthy relations with peers, family and other adults.
We will host and require the children to participate in community/volunteer events held quarterly throughout the year. These events will include, feeding the community, back to school events, holiday recogniticians etc.
We will continue to work closely with the agencies and physicians to ensure the proper professional treatment is rendered.
We will conduct quarterly evaluations and trainings to ensure all staff is invested in the interest of the company and has all required credentials to continue their partnership/employment with SCTL.
Annuals goals
On an annual basis, the SCTL staff and Board of Directors independently establish annual goals and objectives.
These goals and objectives are then routinely evaluated throughout the year and serve as a basis for measuring SCTL’s performance.
